In 2006 Bill was awarded the most prestigious and sought after of accolades, an Ivor Novello Award for his co-write of the massive Xmas 2005 no. 1 hit ‘That’s my Goal’ by Shayne Ward. The track spent 4 weeks at number 1, sold 1.3 million copies in the UK, and is recorded as being one of the fastest selling UK singles ever, and is still the biggest-selling X Factor winning song.
He co-wrote “Whole Again” for Atomic Kitten; at the time earning him another two Ivor nominations. In fact, by the time he picked up his award in 2006, his outstanding talent for songwriting had already been recognised and nominated by both the Ivor Novello and the Brit Award panels an impressive 6 times!
Unlike many leading pop writer/producers, there is no Padley ‘sound’ that is imposed on the artists he works with – he prefers to spend time finding out about the artist, their abilities, and where they want to be musically. Bill has worked & collaborated with many artists – also some of the best known songwriters in the business. Westlife, Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating, Liberty X, Pam Sheyne, Eg White, Sacha Skarbek, Jiant, Jorgen Elofsen, Simon Webbe, Billy Steinberg, Rob Davis, Elliot Kennedy, Lulu, Gareth Gates, Sheryl Crow, The Fugees, & Donna Summer, to name but a few, have been happy to put their name next to Bill’s.
Bill was part of the Ivor Novello Awards judging panel to decide Best Contemporary Song in 2010.
