This is a top-flight seminar on the basics of songwriting delivered by professionals with No.1 hits. Yes, you write songs already, but have you broken them down to find our what works and what doesn’t; have you discovered what inspires; what seems to make a successful or interesting song; how to best arrange verses, choruses and the inevitable middle 8; how to write top lines; how to pitch your songs and so on. All of this and many other tips and pieces of advice will be imparted during this session. The panel will be followed by a Q & A session from the audience.


12.00am – 1.00pm Demo Review by the Craft of Songwriting Panel
This is your chance to have YOUR demo listened to by our esteemed panel of professional songwriters! Bring your demo along to the ‘Craft of Songwriting’ session and as many as the panel can get through in one hour will be picked at random and discussed (make sure your name is on your demo and specify which track you want played!). Remember: even if you demo isn’t picked, you can still learn so much from what is discussed, so bring a notebook and pen, or recording device to pick up tips!

The Music Publishers Association will present a session demystifying the world of music publishing – one of the most profitable areas of songwriting. A panel of experts will explain how the relationship between a writer or composer and their publisher works, examine the different revenue streams and differentiate the various types of deals.

Money doesn’t grow on trees and a panel of lawyers, accountants and music managers and PRS for Music offer advice on understanding where it does grow and how to make sure you get your share. The panel will discuss traditional and new sources of income available for artists and songwriters.
